About the Band

Sara Espinosa

Sara Espinosa

With her "warm, powerhouse vocals" (Kingston After Dark), lead vocalist Sara Espinosa has been fronting bands for many years, beginning with the popular jam band Uncle Wiggly while attending the University of Oregon in Eugene. Since then, she's played with several acts in and around the Pacific Northwest and New York state.

Most notably, as the singer and frontwoman for Soul Purpose, a long-standing New Orleans Funk, Soul, and Swing band based out of New Paltz, New York. She has shared the stage with prominent artists such as Chris O'Leary (of Levon Helm's The Barnburners), bluesman Slam Allen, and acclaimed Blues and Soul artist, Shemekia Copeland.

She has contributed vocals to many recordings including on Seattle-area band Followers of the Shoe debut, Annie's Perspective, and their follow-up LP, Original Spin. She credits her dad for her diverse musical upbringing, with early influences including Ella Fitzgerald, Otis Redding, Quincy Jones, James Taylor, Rosemary Clooney, and Willie Nelson.

Charlie Dig

Charlie Dig

Charlie Dig is a singer/songwriter and keyboard player from Beacon, NY. He got his start on stage with Aioli, a funk/jam band that made the rounds in the NYC music scene, he played in the New Paltz-based Spare Keys, and he's been doing his own thing as a solo artist for years.

He's put out two EPs, Apple Sideswipes and Swirling Rumors, with tracks that hit somewhere between indie rock and singer/songwriter. He's all about creating sound that fits– sometimes that means deep, funky grooves, sometimes it's more vibey, and other times it's banging on the keys as hard as possible.

Inspired by players like Cory Henry, James Blake, and Rex Orange County, he's always looking to mix things up. Now, he's bringing that same energy to Vinyl Biscuit doing whatever it takes to get people moving.

Stephen Jacobs

Stephen Jacobs

Stephen is a renowned guitar/bass player, composer and educator having founded and fronted the award winning Dirty Sock Funtime Band, mainstays on Nickelodeon Jr. for many years in the 2000's and 2010's and voted Best Kids Band in NY by Time Out NY.

Stephen has studied with some of the world's greatest musicians and loves playing everything from funk and hard rock to classical and jazz, as well as composing as silly and musically crazy songs as he can come up with. He is incredibly excited about his current project, a new superhero musical for kids written with his brother Adam and Rob Leitner (of Vinyl Biscuit fame!) The musical is called "Cape Fantasticville" and will be released later this year!

He is also currently the bass player in the amazing hard rock band, Skyward Fall, lead guitar and singer in Showtime Band as well as part of the Beatles Duet, Tonight On Trampoline (also with Rob). Stephen has had the joy of touring the world with the Dirty Sock Funtime Band and sharing the stage and recording with such amazing players as Nona Hendrix (Labelle), Chris Baron (Spin Doctors), Erik Slick (Dr. Dog) and Jesse Krakow (Mandonna). He is beyond excited to be part of Vinyl Biscuit.

Rob Leitner

Rob Leitner

Rob is a lifelong musician, guitarist and singer. He has put out a CD of mostly original songs with his former band, The Nathans called "Up The Hill". For nearly 15 years, Rob has played regionally in a band called Me & My Ex with his ex-wife Ginny. He is currently working on recording a new solo music project called, "The Rob Leitner Project". He has shared the stage and sang with Sloan Wainwright, Deni Bonet and Marc Von Em. He and Stephen Jacobs can also be found at many establishments around the region performing their popular Beatles duet, Tonight On Trampoline. With Stephen's brother Adam, they are also currently working on an original Children's musical, podcast and album called "Cape Fantasticville". Coming soon to your child's ears and eyes!
